NextGenerationEU Funding
Next Generation EU Project Funding
This school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.
This funding was used to purchase SmartBoards and iPads for classroom use. The SmartBoards and iPads are used for the following:
SmartBoards:
75” SmartBoards installed in every mainstream classroom to support and improve day to day teaching and learning.
65” SmartBoards installed in our Special Ed rooms to ensure that the teachers and children working in these rooms have the best possible equipment to facilitate their learning.
These SmartBoards form a central pillar of our Digital Learning Plan as we work to integrate technology in our day to day teaching and learning.
iPads:
60 iPads with 3 trolleys were purchased to support the delivery of the new language curriculum, new maths curriculum and to enhance the teaching of Science, History and Geography in our school.
Our iPad fleet is currently divided into 2 x 25 (Senior and Junior iPad sets) to ensure that there is a device for every child in the class when in use.
We also use a 1 x 10 smaller trolley to support the children in our ASD classes. These devices are used to ensure that the children in our ASD classes receive the same support in their learning and are also part of our school digital learning plan.
These devices are used to support numeracy, problem solving, thinking skills and station teaching across the curriculum.
Support digital literacy skills in the classroom.
iPads will also be used for assessment purposes across the curriculum.
Support children with EAL with apps such as google translate and Duolingo.
